home is where the heart is

my saturday began in the garden, watering the tomato plants with ms. ada- our landlord and neighbor. after tossing my clothes in the washing machine and munching on my delicious cucumber and avocado sandwich with homemade cream cheese herb spread, i proceeded to clean, rearrange and organize my entire room.  suddenly feeling the need to get some fresh air, claire and i took a little stroll around the neighborhood, chit-chattin' about life while sipping on our vanilla lattes.  upon arriving at our doorstep, we went straight into the kitchen to prepare a nice, healthy, and homemade salad and fish tacos for dinner.

i have caught the homebody-virus, meaning i actually ENJOY spending time at home (gasp).  my roommate claire and i strive to be creative in our daily lives by using what we have and what we can find around the house. we have also dedicated ourselves to eat healthier meals; utilizing our csa box has been a great help. i read more and reflect more.  claire and i express and exchange our irritations at the smallest things ever so often, but we always talk it out, and consequently end up reflecting even more.

simple joy comes from living a simple life, appreciating the little things around us and being thankful everyday for what we have and don't have.  i have my days and my moments, but i know that at the end of the day i can go to this safe and creative space i call home and know that everything will be fine.  as a result, my sense of belonging in the community is developing, and i hope it continues to grow.  so far, i can say that this journey has truly been a blessing.
